OPERA HOUSE.

OLIVETTE, There was a numerous' audience at the Opera House last night, , when Audran’s comic opera V Olivette,” with its taking music, sparkling dialogue and interesting situations, was performed by the L’diputian Opera Company. This opera was played by the company on their last visit to Wellington, and the performance last night was in every respect equal to that given on the former occasion. The title role was taken by Miss Marion Mitchell, who pourtrayed the character with her usual vivacity, and sang the music in a first-class manner, most. of her solos being enthusiastically redemanded. The well-known spng -“ The Torpedo and tho Whale,” with its queer chorus, received a double encore. Bud q. snnilaF, fionjplimenf was paid to her singing of the Sobbing Song.” Miss Emily Metcalfe as Bathilde sang and acted most efficiently, and was honoured with frequent encores, while Miss May Beatty was well fitted with the part of Veloutiue. As Captain de Merimao Master Alf. Stephens scored a distinct success, and Miss Maud Beatty niade a splendid Valentine. Special mention must be made of the performance of Master W.; Percy, whose acting of the difficult character of Duo des Ifs was most finished and artistic. His song “Bob Up Serenely,” with its humorous local hits, was well received and loudly encored. The low comedy part of Coquelioot was well played by Master Harry Quealy, and the other characters were all well pourtrayed. The choruses were good,’ the “ Farandole ” chorus particularly so. " Olivette ” is to be repeated this evening, and to-morrow night and on Saturday “ The Princess of Trebizonde ” will be performed.;
