AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

The seventh annual meeting of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club was held in the Exchange Buildings last night. There was a good attendance, and Mr H. D. Bell, M.H.E. (president), occupied the chair.

In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the substance of which have been published in our columns, the President congratulated the Club on winning the championship banner for the first time. The Club had sent eight men to compete against the whole of New Zealand, and they had brought the banner back to Wellington. He hoped it would stay here this time for some years to come; at all events, the other districts would have their work out out to take it away. The Club was also to be congratulated on its financial position. The subscriptions for the previous year amounted to £6O ss, as against £B7 6s for last year. The gate money for the previous season, the autumn meeting having been abandoned, amounted to .£29 Rs 6d, while last year the takings reached .£B9 6s lid. On the other hand there were several items of expenditure which had been considerably • increased. The ground fees for the previous season amounted to .£l3, as r.gainsfc £3O for the past year. With regard to prizes in the previous year the Club had expended .£3B Is 3d, whilelastyear the amount was £95 9s 6d. This accounted for the credit balance not being larger. In addition they had the expense of sending the team away, which amounted to £44 12s 2d, and they still had a credit balance of £4O 6s lid. The Club was starting the season under the happiest auspices. They had a- good credit balance, and they were the holders of the Championship Banner. (Applause.) Mr C. D. Morpeth seconded the motion. Ho was very proud to be one of the team who had won the banner for Wellington. (Applause.) The motion for the adoption of the report was then put and carried. A motion proposed by Mr Tringham, to the effect that winners only of heats and finals should be entitled to badges for reaching standards, was lost. Mr C.
