A good deal of interest is taken in the forthcoming' meeting of the Wellington Trotting Club, to bo held at Miramar, on Thursday next, 34th inst. The course is in very fair order, and, the trotting promises to he the best yet seen in the district judging by tho class of horses engaged. Invictus is doing tho best work on the course, and, in the hands of his new owner, H. Woods, will take a lot of beating in the big saddle event. His chance in the Electric Handicap is also considered a rosy one. The Aucklander, Euby, is also showing good form under M, Edwards’ care, and is thought by many a likely winner of tho Wellington Trotting Club Handicap. Dakota is going well, and with a good rider the record-holder w ould take a lot of beating in the Saddle Eace. Mr Smart’s recent purchase, Yim, ought to bo about at the finish of the harness race. She lately won a two-mile race at Christchurch in smin 51sec. Botheram is doing good work under J. Turnbull. Ho is a likely horse in the Maiden Eace. Slowness looks well, and may follow up his Palmerston North performance in the Pony Harness Eace. Cotherstone has been doing steady work for some time, and will take beating in the Selling Handicap.
