Melbourne, August 3. In the case against Millidge and Davies the point has been raised and is now being argued that the presentment by the Grand Jury was invalidated in consequence of an alien being amongst their number.
Adelaide, August 3.
, The Assembly is debating a motion that in the event of Chief Justice Way assuming the Governorship he shall not receive any additional remuneration. Mr Grainger argued strongly against the suggestion that the Government should appoint Judge Way for a lengthened term after Lord Kintore leaves. The debate stands adjourned.
Brisbane, August 3.
The debate on the Budget proposals resulted in the wantof-oonfidence motion being rejected by 44 to 24. Hobart, August 3.
An Opposition caucus decided not to proceed with the notice of want-of-confi-donce. Thereupon Mr Clark, ex-Attornoy-General, moved a reduction of the expenditure proposed by the Government, and the imposition of new Customs and probate duties. The Ministry accepted this as a direct motion of want-of-con - denoe.

Tho Chief Justice upheld the point raised against an alien having acted as a grand juror, and quashed the presentment against Sir Matthew Davies and Mr F. Millidge.
