(PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch, July 31,
Mr John Ollivler, a very old settler, died today, agfd 81. He arrived herein 1853, and held many offices in the Canterbury Provincial Council, He was provincial secretary in Mr Moorhouse’s Government, and afterwards Speaker. On bla retlremeut from that position bo was appointed pro* vinolal auditor, a position he held till the abolition of the provinces ; and be subse* quently occupied a somewhat cimilar position under the General Government. Tor some years he was Magistrate at Christchurch and Lyttelton,
