THE MINISTER OF PUBLIC WORKS AT KUMARA.
(press association.) Hokitika, April 11. crowded audience assembled at tbe Theatre Royal, £ainara, this evening, to meet the Hon K. J. Siddon, who, in a vigorous and manly speech, lasting two hours, described the policy of tbe Government. Bis remarks with reference to finance and tbe acquisition of the Cheviot estate especially met with marked approval. Mr Team moved a resolution thanking Mr Seddon for his very able and statesmanlike address, coupled with a vote of confidence in the Liberal Ministry and a wish that thpy qiay long remain in power to complete the good works they are npw engaged in carrying out to tbe benefit of the Colony. On the Mayor patting the resolution it was carried unanimously amidst great cheering.
