A pubic meeting was held yesterday respecting the Qooda, which the representatives of the colonies at the Postal Confer, ence attaded by invitation. The Chairman thanked fas colonies for tbs liberal contributions tiey had poured in. Mr Wad undertook to convey the chairman's staement to the people of New Zealand, thragh the Premier, He addressed the meetng at some length, Baying that New Zeaknd, though separated by 1209 miles of sa, was united to Australia by ths sympathielof kinship. The recent disaster, be though, would be the means of good atiaiug, by drawing them into closer union, and r-y tie removal of . fiscal barriers. The ban gatleman’s remarks were well received. 'I he Floo' Belief Fund now amounts to £51,000.
