THE TARANAKI IRONSAND EXPERIMENTS

Further successful experiments took place yesterday at tho Onehuuga Iron Works with tho irouyand, when 4£ tons of pig were puddled, hammered, and rolled. The result was watched with great interest by a large number of those interested, amongst whom was Mr Hunt, manager of the works, and Messrs McLean and Monds, of the Government Public Works Department, who have watched tho manufacture of this iron from its first ttsgo on behalf unci noting under instructions of tho head of their department. It is now stated to bo a pure product of ironsand without admixture with any other metal. When rolled, it is described ns ft “kind mild” iron. A telegram was sent to Mr E. M, Smith, M.H.H., anronnolug the result. Further experiments will bo continued for some time. Messrs McLean and Morula ara staying at. the woiks watching the result.
