(press association.) Ddnsdin, July 21. Tho Education Board, at its meeting today, declined to interfere in the matter of Mrs Cotton’s complaint of classics being taught in public schools. Tho truant officer reported so long as Hie duty of summoning offenders rested with tho committees, his efforts to check the evil will meet with meagre success. The opinion expressed by the Board was that tho compulsory clauses of tho Aot aro unworkable. Christchurch, July 21. In addition to tho drafts of men sent to different parts of tbs Colony there are now 300 men on the books of the Labour Bureau requiring employment. Daring the month 20 men have been engaged as rabbltors. Drafts of a similar number have been sent to Hanmer Plains, Bealey, Catlins and the North Island.
