(PB« PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch, June 10. Cattle Market.—Store sheep—There was a smaller entry than usual, and the demand was very good. A line of between 200 and 300 twu-tooth crossbreds suitable for turnips sold at 13a 61 ; another line of the same class only realised 9s. Some woolly merino wethers sold at 7s. Fat sheep—There was a very large entry, consisting chiefly of second rate crossbred ewes, with the occasional line of wethers and maiden ewes. The demand for export was active, prices remained Arm throughdbt, and a clearance was effected at fair rates. Best wethers brought up to 19s, aud wethers and maiden ewes ranged from 14s 6d to 17*. Crossbred ewes sold at from lls 9d to 15s 6d. Among the merinos there were fe w that attained good quality, the bulk of the entry in this section consisting of old ewes and wethers, for which there was little or no demand. Cattle—--131 head of beef were yarded, of which the greater portion was of good quality steers and heifers. Best quality steers ranged between LG 15a and L 8 2s 6d, and heifers from L 6 12s 6d to LS. Theae realised nearly 20s per 1001 b. Other classes sold at from 16s to 18s and some few old cows sold at from 12s €d per 1001 b upwards, according to quality. Store cattle—A small entry of odd lots of cows and heifers, with one single line of 2J-year*old steers, comprised the lot entered. Steers brought L 4, and there was a much improved demand for good sorts of cows and heifers, which were sold up to L 5 15s. Fifty-three dairy cows met with a willing market. Pigs— Over SOO baconers and porkers sold at rates which compared with former quotations, best Suality bacon pigs bringing from 2gd to 3d for ght sorts, and a few heavier sorts from 2£d per lb. Porkers met with ready sale at 3d to 3£d, according to quality. Dunedin, June 10. Fat cattle.—The entry to day at the Burnside saleyards was a pretty full one, 23G head being yarded, comprising some prime beef with a few pens of heavy weights. For good cattle a very fair demand was experienced, these showing a slight advancs in price, while for medium there was no improvement. Beat bullocks brought LBss to LlO 2s Gd, one or two pens, extra heavy, a shade more. Medium to good, L 5 Is toL7 sa; light weights, L3ssto L 4 10s. Best cows, LG 7a 6d to L 7 10s ; medium, L 4 5s to L 5 17s Gd % inferior and light, L2 2s Gd to L 3 12s Gd. FaS Sheep—The supply to hand to-day was again a very moderate one, only 1870 being penned, including about 2CO merino wethers of very good quality, the balance crossbreds, about two-thirds of which were ewes, the rest wethers. The latter, with afewpeus of the former, were superior im point of quality and weight to those forwarded last week, and under very good competition correspondingly higher prices were obtained ; In fact prices alt round were higher than those ruling the previous week. Best crossbred wethers brought 15s 9d to 18s 9d; medium, 12s to 15s; best do ewes, 14s Gd to 17s Gd ; medium, 10s Gd to 13a Gd,} merino wethers, 13s Gd.
