THE WINTON BABY FARM.

Invercargill, March 26.

At the inquest at Winton yesterday re the death of the infant in the house of Mrs Deane evidence was taken to the effect that the infant was six weeks eld, was brought from Caversham on the 9th ; then had a cold, and gradually got worse. Medicine was administered, but the child died. In the heuae Mrs Deane had eleven children of from six weeks to two and a half years old, and two of 11 and 15 years respectively, with herself and husband. They occupied ■ house 12 by 14 with a lean to. The medical evidence showed that death was naturally caused by inflammation of the valve of the heart and congestion of the lungs. A verdict was returned accordingly, with a rider that the promisee were entirely inadequate for the purpose for which they were used, the Coroner being asked to lay the suggestion* before the proper authority,
