The 8.9 Waitapu left Hangitikei last night, and will leave here to-day for Pateu. MrH. C. Petherbride, who has been purser of the Tekapo for the past six years, has been appointed a clerk in the Company’s Christchurch office. Prior to leaving his ship he wan the recipient of several presents from his fellow officers. Tho Takapuna should arrive hero this morning from Lyttelton, and sails for the Manukau ami Taranaki in the afternoon. The Tarawera, from Melbourne via the South, is duo to-clay. She sails for Sydney via Auckland and East Coast port during the afternoon. The Rotorua left tor tho South yesterday afternoon. . , TheStormbird left for Wanganui yesterday evening. . _ The Jubilee, from the South, arrived at 5 pm yesterday, and sailed for Sydney shortly before midnight, taking a number of passengers and a large quantity of cargo. The Tekapo arrived from the South at 1.30 pm yesterday, and sailed for Sydney in the afternoon. The steamer Glenelg sails to-day for the Manukau and intermediate ports. The Neptune arrived from Blenheim yesterday morning, and returned again last night. The Waverley, from Patea, arrived yesterday at 10.30 am, and returns to-day. The ss Hauroto, from Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru and Lyttelton, arrived at 6 am yesterday. She left for Sydney with a full cargo and a number of passengers at 3 pm. The barque Akaroa has made a good start loading, and has already on board 700 casks of tallow and about the same number of bales of flax and wool. She expecta to bo a full ship by the end of the month.
