By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (per press association.) Melbourne, November 8. Yesterday was the hottest day experienced at this period of the year for the last 24 years. Brisbane, Novembers. MrC. S. Wraggo, Government meteorologist, predicts squally weather from south-west to south-east between Gabo Island and the Bluff, with rough seas and rain. This forecast covers three days. Perth (W.A.), Noverab-r 8. The Government has given its adhesion to the proposed postal reductions between England and the colonies. Sydney, November 8. Sir Henry Parkes is communicating with the ;other Governments as to the place of meeting of the Federal Convention. It is expected that Sydney will be selected, and that the meeting will take place early in the coming year. (Received November 10. 1.45 a m.) Sydney, November 9. Mr A. Jacques Ibbot, the Swedish faster, has now completed 14 days of his self-imposed task, and continues to remain in good health, although losing considerably in weight. Melbourne, November 9. The military conference to consider the defence of King George’s Sound and Thursday Island will meet here on Monday week. Tulloch represents Victoria, Major-General Richardson, Commander of the military forces in New South Wales, represents that colony ; MajorGeneral Downes represents South Australia, Colonel G. A. French 'will act for Queensland, Major Barnard represents Tasmania, while Captain A. D. Moore represent England. The New Zealand Government has declined to be represented at the Conference. The initial meeting will be confined to a consideration of the proposals from the Imperial Government to provide armaments, and the delegates will then proceed to Albany to join Captain Moore, who will shortly arrive from ISngland. From Albany the Conference will proceed to Thursday Island, and thence on to Port Darwin. Tne Government propose to stimulate tobacco growing by means of granting a bonus, which will practically abolish the excise duty.
