ST. PATRICK’S COLLEGE.

GRAND EXCURSION. The students of St. Patrick’s College have lor some time been looking forward to a promised piooio and excursion round the harbour. The event came off yesterday, Thu morning was bright and sunny, and line weather continued all day. At half-past 0 a.m. the boys assembled in the grounds, and, beaded by their brass band, under Mr Cimino, marched. Via Courtenay place. Manners street, Willis street and Lambton quay, to the Wharf. The s.s. Mnna was immediately boarded and headed the steamer for Fitone. Prom thonoe a trip was made to Lower Bay, the band playing lively airs en route. From Lowry Bay the excursionists were conveyed to Days Bay, where a landing was made. Dinner was served here about 1 o’clock, after which the boys indulged in sports of various kixd-1 until half-past 3, when a short luncheon was partaken of. The'Mana was then prepared for the homeward voyage, and after nil had embarked a start was made for the Wharf, which was reached about half* past&. The boys, on landing, gave three hearty cheers for Captain Jones, who bad assiduously looked alter their wants during the day, and the band also struck up with *' For he’s a jolly good fellow.” The ezeureiouisto then assembled in procession and marched back to the College to the mnaio of the band. Among those Who were present with the boya during the excursion were the Very Rev Father McNamara, S.M.V.G.. Administrator of the Archdiocese ; the Very Rev Dr Watters, S.M., Reotor of the College; the Rev Father JJevoy, S,M., Vice. Reotor; the Rev Father Brazmeier, S.M., M.A.; Rev Father Bowden, S.M., M.A. ; Rev Father Tupmsn, S.M. ; Rev Father Hickson, S.M.; Rev Father Power; Very Rev Father Lone, Lower Halt; Rev Father Doherty, S.M.; Rev Father Carolan, S.M. The bays expressed themselves as heartily delighted with the day’s anting, the success of which they acknowledge was due in a great measure to the kindness of Captain Jones. Mr Trowell and Mr Raymond wore the accompanists in the band, and, under Mr Cimino’s able leadership, acquitted themselves well.
