Orchestral Society’s Concert in Theatre Royal to-night. Public trial of improvements in mechanical movements at Hayes’, Lambton quay, to-day, at 3 p.m. The City Council give notice that Moturoa street is closed for repairs. Mr J. P. Abbott, of Sydney, addresses the members of the Australian Mutual Provident Society in another column. The ordinary 10.15 tiain this evening to the Lower Hutt will be delayed till 10.30 p.m. The Marine Department invite applications for the position of engineer, surveyor, and inspector of machinery. T. K. Macdonald and Co. sell to-morrow, on premises in Bolton street, household furniture. E. O. Reynolds and Co., Dunedin, sell fine art pictures oo Saturday next. The s.s. Chingtu is announced to leave Sydney for Thursday Island, Port Darwin, and Hong Kong on May 19.
