The weather has been too wet for the police to make a thorough search about the spot where the murder was committed. To-day being fine, several policemen are in the Recreation Ground, and it is hoped some, thing may be found belonging to the person who committed the deed. At present tho evidence is only circumstantial. At the Supreme Court, in the case of Philpotts, who was charged with stealing a watch, the jury could cot agree, and the jury wore ordered to stand aside during the day. The man will be tried by a newjnry on Monday. The case of a Maori named Tutangi, charged with eheep.stealing, ia now being heard.
