FOOTBALL.

A meeting of She Management Committee of the Rugby Union was held at the Club Hotel last night, there being present Messrs Campbell (in the chair), Wilford, Home, MoCardell and McMahon. The question of admitting the Carlton, Selwyn and Pioneer Clubs to the Union was deferred for consideration until the general meeting of the Union to be held on Friday next. It was decided that the Championship matches should commence on the 3rd May, and that two rounds should be played. It was decided to publish the “Football Annual.” The Committee then adjourned. The following players will represent the Athletic first fifteen in their match against the Poneke first fifteen at Newtown this afternoon : —Tripe, Smith, Galloway, Roe,

Fraser, Murphy, Redward, Tringham, Johnston, Murphy, Eiddler, Severne, Howard, Atkinson, Drummond; emergencies, G. S. Hill and Day. The following will represent the Oriental Football Club against the Athletic second this afternoon, at 2,15 sharp:—G. Fisher, Lorimer, Read, Leslie, Gormley, Gardner, S. Hill, Sanderson (2), Tattle, Rawson, Kelling, Glover, O’Neil, Roe, Bolt, Hart, Jordan.

A match will be played this afternoon between the Selwynand Carlton Clubs. The following will represent the Carltons : Barr, Brewer, Earth, C. Henry; Hardinj, Hill, Hedges, Me Alpine, McMillan, Simeon,, Nioholls, Sullivan, Taylor, Watty and Waters; emergencies, Reeve, A. Marshall and Gamble. The game will be played on the former’s ground.
