$ (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, April 15. The ten-ton coastal cutter 0.J., of Tauranga, has been found on the Panipani Beach, close to the entrance of Tauranga harbour, completely smashed. The cutter left Maketu on Tuesday last for Tauranga, with a cargo of flax. The crew consisted of William Turner and a lad, William Cauavan. It is evident that the vessel swamped when crossing Tauranga bar, and there is little doubt that the crew is lost. At the inquest on the body of the late Mr 3, Locke, the medical evidence was to the effect that death was the result of apoplexy, A verdict wac returned that Mr Locke died from natural causes. Kawau Island, purchased from Sir George Grey two years ago by Mrs Thomson, has been sold by that lady to Mr W. D, Holgate and Mrs F. A, Buxton, of|-Victona. The Waiwai Hotel, at Mercury Bay, has been destroyed by fire. The origin of the outbreak is at present unknown. Mr E. Mitcnelson left for Wellington by the Takapuna from Mauukau yesterday. A prisoner named Stevens, charged with Lprae-atealing at Wellington, is on board the s.B. Manapouri, in the charge of a constable. Dunedin, April 15.
