Referring to the fish stranded at Westoe a short time ago, and mentioned in onr columns the other day (says the Rangitikei Advocate) Mr C. Hunt says that he has cut up hundreds of salmon in England, and having seen this fish, he has no hesitation in declaring it to be a real salmon. Three Native policemen in India, who deserted from the station at Philibhit, were two days later pursued to a deserted hut, and, on being surrounded, all three simul) taneously shot themselves dead with their rifles. They had previously to murder their superintendent by firing through the window when he was dining with a lady and gentleman.
