Company’s new ateamer Oriental was launched to-day at Greenock. Molloy, the Invincible, has been arrested in Dublin, by order of the Commission. Lord Knutsford has arranged for an interview between Air Goscben and the Agenis-General for a discussion relative to the reinsertion of the clause «in the Liability of Trustees Bill providing for the investment by trustees in colonial stocks. The meeting’has been fixed for the 14th inst. The Times-ParneU Commission will adjourn for the Christmas and New Year holidays on Friday, the 14th. The inquiry will resume on the 15th of January.

Maize is dull at from 4s to 4s 3d. New potatoes are bringing L 9 ; old kinds, L 6 10s. Ohaff, L 7 to L 9; bran, Is 3d to Is 4d; pollard, la Id; New Zealand butter, Is Id to Is 4d ; local butter, la 6d to Is 9d; cheese,- 7d to 9d; bacon, locally cured, to 7-Jd ; New Zealand bacon, 8d to 9£d ; New -Zealand hams, lid to Is, Melbourne, December 6.

Ab the wheat harvesting proceeds the farmers generally find a full heavy •ear, and it is possible that even with short straw the quality may after all prove satisfactory. An estimated yield of eight bushels to the acre has been hazarded. Wheat is gweaker, 4a 7£d •being quoted for milling sorts. Flour is also slightly weaker at Lll. New Calcutta oats, 3s 10Jd ; stout sorls, 4s 10|d. Cape barley, 8a B£d ; maize, ■4s sd; bran, Is 3d. Adelaide, December 6.

At the wool sales to day a buoyant tone prevailed. Merino advanced 10 per cent. Fine crossbreds were scarce, and experienced a similar advance. Greasy lambs, both coarse and fine, sold at *an advance of £d to Id. Ml scoured wools were in active ■demand, and prices were favourably affected by the general advance in other classes. The sales close on the 15th. The present stock is small and the prospects are good. SPECIAL. (Received December 6, 9 p.m.) Loudon, December 4. Lord Carnarvon, in his speech upon the relations o f the colonies and the Mother Country, expressed the hope that the existing ties would always be maintained, but considered it obligatory upon the Home authorities to appoint as Governors men who would be acceptable to the colonists. Lord Onslow, the Governor-elect of New Zealand, is receiving residents from that Colony introduced by the Agent-General. The commercial treaty between Great Britain and Persia is the cause of the strained relations between the latter country and Russia.
