A NUISANCE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sib, —On reading jour valuable article in this morning's paper (with which I quite agree) the thought struck me that you had never visited Scarborough-terrace or you would have been able to give the details of another nuisance. Being one of the residents of that locality I will explain the nuisance to you. There are about fourteen houses on the bill aide of the terrace, and (would you believe it ?) they have all to drain their slops from the house into the street, there being no drain, only across the road. The water channels are so blocked up with grass and weeds that the water cannot get av ay, so there it lies and stinks. Now just fancy what a nice stench arises from this on a hot day. Why, it is enough to knock you down. I have spoken "to several of the old Council, and have been in communication with the Council itself, but always got the same answer, “ We will attend to it directly," or “we have no money, so it will have to stand over for a short time.” Why, to leave a street like it is is a disgrace to all concerned. Hoping
that this will catch the eye of some of our new Councillors, and that they will get something done for us, —I am &c., A Resident.
