Owing to the wet weather lately, but comparatively little mining has been done, but yet the yield upon the whole may be deemed satisfactory. The Maoris at Mahakipawa have obtained over 40oe. Scaife and party’s ground is still payable. Aldridge and party have sold out for L2OO, and J ones and party from a paddock 12ft square got 560 z. Beauchamp has sold his share for L3O. Rush and party have suffered much from the web weather, a great deal of their work being rendered practically useless. Hart and party are reported to have bottomed at Waikakaho.

It is not at all unlikely that vve may hear of a rush down the Pclorus Sound, at North-west Bay. Several parties have gone down there, and many are satisfied with their prospects. Again, there are reports of gold being found at the “ World’s "End, ” Pelorus Sound. Schenlde and party got 7os on Thursday, and four sailors, who are working on a terrace 100 ft above the prospectors’ claim at Mahakipawa, are reported to be doing ■well. There are only five claims yet bottomed in the main crook, which, as yet is in its infancy, as the sides are perpendicular, consequently the wash dirt has to fee “ slaged ” from the bottom. Active operations are being taken in the reefs, numbers of men being employed. The Maori Gorge Company, at Wakamarina, are to commence operations today (Monday), November.l9. No great amount of damage was done by the gales during the past ■week, Messrs Brownlee and Co.’s sawmill, at Blackball, being partially unroofed, also that of a stable at Havelock suburban, and a few trees uprooted. She is intended to take cargo. Tho following applications in the Warden’s Court were granted : —A tail race at Mahakipawa to Dillon and party, an amalgamation of Waikakaho to G. Parkes and party, a tail race at Mahakipawa to R. Newmanu and party, a water-race at Wairau to R. Gee, an amalgamation at Mahakipawa to S. Mason and party. Licensed holdings were granted to C. Longhurst and party and the Karori Company. The following applications were adjourned for survey:— T. C. Sunson, Golden Hill Company ; J. R. Skelley, Duchess of Albany Company ; G. Mackay, Success Company. Adjourned for 14 daysJ. Newth, Silence Company; W. Duncan, Kapai Company,’; H. F, Logan, Waikakaho Company. Resident Magistrate’s Court business: Weir v S. Mason, claim LI 2s, judgment for amount, with costs 14s. Weir vD. Mason, claim LI 14s Id. Judgment for amount, with costs 14s. One application for a tail-race from Thompson, and party, Mahakipawa, had to be adjourned, as the objectors and applicants could not agree. Probably it will be decided by the warden visiting the grounds.
