Prospectus PROSPECTUS, WAKAMARINA-MAHAKIPAWA RIVER-BED GOLD MINING COMPANY (Limited). The Company will be Incorporated and Registered under the Mining Company’s Act, 1886. The Nominal Capital is £25,000, in Shares of £1 each. THE following extracts are taken from the prospectus. The concessions secured by the promoters are: A lease from the New Zealand Government for twenty-one (21) years, with the option of renewal of three and a quarter miles of auriferous riverbed, covering a superficial area of forty-three acres; also sluicing and other works commenced by diggers. The promoters will accept for the above concessions and their rights thereunder, fivethousand shares, 10s paid-up; and five thousand pounds (£5000) in cash, in four equal instalments during the first year. Twenty thousand shares (20,000) are offered to the public upon the terms stated. The promoters will pay a sum not exceeding £IOO for floating and registering the Company. Any sum in excess of this amount will be paid by the Company. The Permanent Directors will bg appointed at a meeting of the Company, to be held one month after the date of incorporation. Forms of application for shares may be had at the office of the Brokers. The objects of the Company are (a) To work the bed of the Wakamarina River wherever practicable,, and where local enterprise has up to the present time failed to reach. (b) To mine in the gold-bearing terraces on each side of the Wakamarina River. (c) To prospect for the various quartz reefs from which the heavy gold distributed throughout the bed of the Wakamarina River, its banks and tributaries, has originated. (d) To mine for gold in the Wakamarina and Mahakipawa Districts. Mining operations have from 1863 up to the present day been carried on by a fluctuating population, and many rich finds are continually being brought to light. The various modern inventions in the form of dredges and other mining appliances bring within easy reach of a company means of coping with the water difficulty, which has bitherto proved a barrier to the development of much of the Wakamarina Goldfield, and especially so the more level parts of the river, where, in consequence of the stillness and volume of the current, the richer deposits and heavier gold may naturally be expected to lodge. With the machinery proposed to work the riverbed, the promoters are confident that these terraces can be tested and worked concurrently with the riverbed. _ ■ Deep gorges exist throughout the river, and to enable these to be bottomed, it is intended in some instances to divert the main channel and carry on a system of work by sluicing. The promoters have already secured ground, where such works have been commenced. Tests by divers and by sinking cylinders have placed beyond doubt the fact that heavy gold' is deposited in these natural detainers, many of which are situated in the Wakamarina River, at the junction of its richest gold-bearing tributaries.
