(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, August 17. Morgan Daly, member of the Permanent Force at Fort Cautley, was drowned in the harbor this morning, about 1 o’clock. He ■was a young man, and was on late leave, which expired at midnight. It is believed that he fell asleep on the Queen-street Wharf and rolled into the water, A fire broke out in High-street this morning in the harness factory of Messrs James Haig . and Isaao Hill. The fire was got under before the building was destroyed, but the stock and fittings were destroyed Incendiarism is strongly suspected. The insurance en Hill’s stock is £SOO in the Standard, and on Haig’s stock, £2OO in the Standard. The building is insured by the owner, Mr E. Bell, for £2OO in the New Zealaud office.
