Tongariro left for Lyttelton and Dunedin last evening. She leaves Lyttelton finally for England on the 22nd September. The steamer Charles Edward, which was detained by the high sea running at the Heads, got away at 5.30 am yesterday. The H.M.S. Opal sailed for Sydney, via North, yesterday morning, She got out at about 10.30 am. . , XT i •. c The U.S.S. Co’s ss Penguin left Nelson at 6 pm on the 16th, Picton at 4 am yesterday, and arrived here at 9 am, having had fine weather throughout the passage. She sailed for South yesterday afternoon. The ss Huia left Wanganui at 6.30 pm on the 16th, and arrived here at 9.30 am yesterday She experienced strong southerly wind and sea to Terawhiti. The Huia returned yesterday afternoon. - The ss Napier left Foxton at 7 pm on the 16th, and arrived here at 8 am yesterday, having had tine weather throughout. She returns to-day.
