The death' is announced of Mr Peter Hylands, M.P. for Burnley, the well-known ironmaster, aged 68. special to united association. (fteoeived February 9, 3.55 p.m.) , , London, February 8. Mr John Norton has had. a long interview with Sir Henry Holland, who jiromised that Australia should have direct • representation qn the Committee of the Bmigcation, Bureau, but was .unable to permit Mr Norton to attend the Operatives’ Conference. The selection of,a successor,.to Mr Custance, as Professor of Agriculture, South. Australia, will not be made until the arrival of Mr Downer, M.LA.
