Since the opening of the series 50,000 bales have been catalogued, of which 2900 have been withdrawn. Messrs Jacomb and Co. report an average rise on scoured merinos of fully 10 per cent, other sorts from 7 to 10 per cent, good lambs, 10 per cent, cross-breds from sto 10 pe; cent. The correct number of bales available is 250,000. The wheat market is depressed, and no fresh sales are reported. The supply is above the market demands. Quotations for/Australian cargoes on the spot are unchanged. Sellers of the new crop are asking 27s 3d. Samuel Allsop ’aod Son, pale ale brewers, intend to convert their business into a Company, with a capital of £3,500,000.

London, January 28. Consols, 100£. New Zealand 5 per cent. 10-40 loan is 10s lower, 102; New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock is 10s higher, 95. , The total quantity of wheat afloat' lor the United'Kingdom is 1,990,000 quarters, being 80,000 quarters less than last week. Colonial breadstuffs remain unchanged. Australian beef tallow is 6d higher, 25s Cd ; mutton tallow, 6d higher, 30s At the colonial wool sales to-day 10,700 bales were offered. Tho market continues firm. New Zealand mutton is selling at from 4id to 4}d.~
