New Zealand Times Office, Friday evening. Business has been unusually quiet throughout the week, and in nearly every department a want of animation has been observable. Less than usual business has been done in the wines, spirits, and malt liquors. Brandies in bulk and case have had a limited business ; whisky has experienced a fair demand; Geneva has had a fair share of attention ; rum, for most brands, has had but a moderate demand. Bottled stout has had a heavy business, large lines having changed hands at full rates ; Read’s Dog’s Head is cleared out, and the next • shipment advised fully booked. Dried fruits— Currants have had good business at 4jd for casks and scl for cases for fair to good fruit; inferior is quoted at 4d for casks. Kleme raisins are in fair business demand at to C^d; sultanas are slow of sale at 7d. Fiah—Tinned fish of all descriptions have continued very alow of sale ; salmon is still quoted at 7s Gd for Cutting’s Cocktail, and 7s 3d for Pacific Coast; sardines have had a fair inquiry at 9s to 9s 9d for halves, and 5a to 5s 6d for quarters; herrings, red, 30s to 31s ; fresh, Gs ; Auckland tinned mullet, 7s. Flour —Adelaide is in rather improved request at Lll 15s for sacks. Metals—Corrugated iron has been in good demand, and several parcels on their way have been sold (to arrive) at L2O 10s to L2l 10s per ton. Fencing wire has met with fair attention at Ll2 for No. C, LI2 5s for No. 7, and Ll2 10s for No. 8; barbed wire sells quietly at 31s.
