Mv A. W. Brown, in succeeding to the boHiatres of Mr Logan, took over an industry which, during thjs past few months, he has increased considerably. The industry referred Ito lathe tinning of fresh and salted butter, ; which ia sent by every available opportunity to China and India, and more especially to Fiiu The butter is obtained chiefly from the Hutt and the Porinn district. A cleverly constructed machine presses the water and batter milk from the batter, which is then salted, and placed in tins of from Hbto7ib in weight. Mr Brown employs about ten men and girls in the business, and as the trade is rapidly increasing, he anticipates putting on more people. The Wellington batter is spoken highly of by the consumers in F'j% who express a desire that the trade ehoul i still ?nc : her extended.
