A MYSTERIOUS FIRE.

Auckland, November 8. At 8.20 this morning the Union Company'll hulkCantero was seen to be enveloped in thick amoke, and several boats rowed off with men willing to render aid. They found amoke issuing from the hatchway, and part of the bulwarks were burnt to the deck. The coal in the hole was also ignited. The fire was extinguished in about half an hour, and the damage proved slight. Captain Clayton, Lloyd’s Surveyor, visited the vessel and saw every precaution taken to prevent any fresh outbreak. The coal hulk had on board 150 tons of Bay coal. The mystery of the affair is that nobody had resided on board for three months. The vessel was only visited in order to fix tho siding lights. The fire appeared to have arisen on the deck.
