A quantity of stone, the like of which for its rich gold-bearing properties has never been equalled at Kecfton, was brought down from tho Cedar Creek reefs on Saturday, Since then twenty-four shares have been constantly changing hands at .£SO. A company was floated last night with a capital of £24,000, and men In its employ have left to-day to get out the quartz, so as to have it ready by tho time the battery is finished. Immense enthusiasm prevails. Some of the pieces of stone were studded with globules of gold, some as large as peas. Yesterday a trial crushing of the atone showing gold was made in the pres ence of some Greymouth leading quartzreefers, and it yielded highly payable results. The stone was obtained from the William Tell Company. The Excelsior Company, peg and peg with the above-named, have got the reef, and are busily getting out stone to-day, A piece of atone from tho latter was crushed and yielded at the rate of Boz to the ton, I’resh ground is being rushed.
