It is anticipated that by the co-operation of persons now paying these high premiums, the Association will succeed in forcing the reduction of the rates to more legitimate and equitable terms. It is slated, on good authority, that the amonut of fire insurance premiums collected in the City of Wellington exceeds £30,000 annually. The citizens can judge from this fact, in face of the acknowledged immunity from casualties, how large the profits are which the insurance companies derive from this city. They are therefore invited to co-operato with tliis Association by becoming members. Those who wish to enrol themselves can do so by applying to the Secretary. S. CARROLL, Chamber of Commerce.
