No information of the rejection by the Chinese Government of the French demand for an indemnity on account of the Langson affair has yet been published here, and the report to the contrary effect in the London Times of to-day is positively stated to be without foundation. THE CHOLERA IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE. Cholera continues to rage at Mar seilles and Toulon with unabated vigor. Other parts of France are as yet free from tho epidemic. ANNEXATION. Capetown, July 16. In the House of Assembly to-day, Mr Uppington, Premier, gave notice of a motion iu favor of the annexation of Stelland (sic, ? Zululand). FEARFUL RAILWAY ACCIDENT. TWENTY-FIYE PERSONS KILLED. London, July 17. A disastrous accident has occurred on tho Manchester, Sheffield, and Lincolnshire Railway. Tho axle of one of tho carriages oi au express train running from Manchester to Sheffield broke, and the train left tho
