Lyttelton sailed early yesterday morning for Blenhein, Nelson, and the West Const. The Union s.s. Penguin arrived early yesterday morning from Picton and ■ Nelson, and left again shortly after 3 p.m. for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers. The schooner Endeavor arrived yesterday from Oamaru with a full cargo of grain. The Union s.s. Hawea is due this morning from Southern ports, She leaves for Picton and Nelson at Bp.m. Messrs W. and G. Turnbull’s barque Alexa Is ex pected to get away from Lyttelton, en route here, by Saturday next. The Anchor lino s.s. Kennedy Is expected to arrive from Nelson to-day. She is advertised for the same port, and thence on to the Coast, at 6 p.m. The Government steamer Stella left last evening on one of her periodical visits to the Southern lighthouses. The s.s. Koputal, recently run down by the s.s. Waitaki, in Dunedin Harbor, is one of the most powerful tug-boats in. the colonies. She is a paddlewheel steamer of 158 tons register; has engines of 169-horse power; is 112 ft 2in long, 20ft in breadth, and Oft 6in in eepth. She was specially built for the Otago Towing Company at Whileinch, Scotland, in 1376, and is a line specimen of this class of steamer. The steamer Ladybird left for Westport at 6 o'clock last evening. The steamer Mohaka will probably reach port today from Otahi. : She leaves in a few hoars after arrival for; Blenheim. i The steamer Hanrakl arrived from the West Coast early yesterday morning, and left again in the evening for Wanganui, Opunake, and the Waltara.
