SERIOUS CHARGES BY” THE PRISONER.

At the Resident Magistrate's Court to-da-, W. W. Charters was charged on six counts wit! embezzlement. Evidence was taken at length after which the prisoner said—“ I shall pleaguilty in the higher Court of having taken tin money referred to in the first three charges, W I have not receive I any part of it personally, and I shall disclose the names of those who, i: my opinion, and I hope that of the public too are more blameable than myself, and who n ■ ceived the benefit from the fraud. I wish 6 say with regard to the last three charges that 1 deny them in into. 1 have not embezzled th. money. Hamilton has had his loan, am, Restell as well. I could jiroiluce the proof o innocence if I was at liberty." He was committed for trial on all six charges. The chargt «f forgery will be held on Monday.
