AUSTRALIAN. Sydney, November 30.

In the Legislative Assembly last night, the Hon. Sir Henry Parkes, the Premier, referring to the steps which had been adopted by the Government in dealing with the Milburn Creek Copper Mine Company, stated that, with the exception of Sir John Robertson, who resigned his portfolio on the 10th instant, the members of the Cabinet had throughout been unanimous in opinion .as to the action which should be taken in the matter.

Another death from smallpox occurred yesterday. Messrs Davis and Want have been retained by the Government to conduct the prosecution in the impending action in connection with the Milburn Creek Copper Mine award.

SEVERE SENTENCES FOR BRIBERY,

FURTHER ARRESTS IN IRELAND.

Parliament has been summoned to meet for despatch of business on 9th February. Severe sentences of imprisonment have been passed upon persons convicted of bribery in connection with the late elections at Macclesfield and Sandwich.

Mr Michael Boyton, one of the chief organisers of the Irish Land League, who was imprisoned on March 9 th, has now been released. Several further arrests have, however, been made in various parts of Ireland, among them is Mr Nirren (sic), on a charge of rioting at Bruff, near Limerick. Cases of refusal to pay rent are now becoming general in the west and south of Ireland.
