Wanaka left Nelson at 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday, called at Picton, and arrived here at 4 o’clock yesterday morning. Experienced strong north-west winds across the Strait. She left for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers at 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The Union Company’s s.s, Taiaroa left Port Chalmers at 1.30 p.m. on the 13th, and arrived at Lyttelton, at 9 a.m. on Tuesday; left the same day, at 5 p.m,, and made Wellington at 10.50 a.m. yesterday. Pine weather prevailed from Port Chalmers to Lyttelton, from thence to Cape Campbell moderate N,W, winds, and strong N.W. winds and heavy sea across the Strait. The Taiaroa leaves for Picton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Manukau, to-day. The s.s. Wakatu arrived from Wanganui early yes te May morning, bavin" left Wanganui at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Fresh N.W. winds and heavy sea were experienced. She returned during the afternoon. The p.s. Charles Edward left Nelson at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Experienced strong N.W. ■weather, and arrived in port at 6.30 a.m. yesterday. She left again last night for Nelson and West Coast ports, proceeding to Okarito. The s.s. Napier left for Blenheim early yesterday morning. She will be back again today. Messrs. Grice and Sumner’s s.s. Hero will arrive from Lyttelton to-day. She leaves for Sydney and Melbourne to-morrow, at mid-day, taking passengers at reduced rates. The Union Company’s s.s. Wakatipu arrives from the South on Saturday morning, and leaves the same day on her usual direct trip to Sydney, taking passengers at low rates. The ketch Forest Queen came off Messrs. Coffee and Dixon’s slip yesterday morning, having been thoroughly examined and undergone some slight repairs necessitated by her recent grounding on the Waitara bar. It was found that the damage was very trifling, being confined to the stripping of a few sheets of copper. The schooner Star of the Sea will probably be taken on the slip just mentioned to-day. The s.s. Grafton left Lyttelton on Tuesday evening, and arrived in port at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon, having experienced moderate N.W. weather to Cape Campbell, and from thence strong, with nasty sea, from the same quarter till near the Heads.
