The Etholbert, which arrived yesterday from Newport, passed a quantity of Ice in 43deg. south latitude. She was amongst it for tinrty-six hours, and counted over ten Icebergs. She edged away north and got clear. ■» The barque Mataura sails for London to-morrow, with 3981 bales wool, 10 casks sealskins, 32 casks tallow, 100 bags flour, 3247 o z. gold; total va1ue,£93,688. The Taiaroa, with the SarT Francisco mail, Is duo hero to-day. H.M.S. Nymphe completed coaling yesterday and will probably leave on Monday for England. The schooner Saucy Lass, timber laden, from Picton, arrived hero yesterday morning. She left Picton on Thursday, and experienced light and varij able weather across. It Is some time now since we had one of Captain Williams’ vessels In with coal. The next to turn up should be the brig Neptune, which left Newcastle on the 2nd Instant. She may therefore now be looked for any day. Tho Hineraoa, which takes Ministers South this evening, after leaving them at Fort Chalmers, will proceed to Dog Island, land stores, and proceed thence to Puysegur Point, where a now lighthouse has just been erected. Tho light will be tested, and if the trial prove satisfactory, nottflcatlon will be made to mariners that tho light wilt bo established early la March next. Tho Hinemoa, after the light has been tested, will return to-Wellington, calling at Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, and Akaroa, discharging a largo quantity of stores. The trip will occupy about ton days. The Jane Douglas, for Foxton, arrived early yesterday morning, and sailed again last night for the same port. The steamer Hula sailed yesterday afternoon for Wanganui. Tho yacht Contrabandicro has been supplied with a false keel. She has also been thoroughly overhauled in anticipation of tho regatta. Wo understand tho cutter Lena Is also to be overhauled previous to starting for the coasters’ race. Tho steamer Ilaxvea, previous to leaving, went round to the Patent Slip to have her compasses adjusted. She left for tho South with a large number of passengers during the evening. Tho Mannwatu arrived in harbor at 7.30 yesterday morning. She left Wanganui at 7.30 on Thursday evening, crossed tho bar an hour later, and made tho run up In 12 honrs. Fine weather was experienced along the coast. The steamer Ringarooma, from Melbourne via tho South, arrived in harbor at 0.30 yesterday morning. She left Melbourne at 4.45 p.m. on tho Bth, and arrived at Hobarton at 7.40 o.m. on tho Oth : left at 6 p.m, tho same day, and arrived at tho Bluff at daylight last Monday. Fine weather was experienced across. Sho arrived at Port Chalmers early on Tuesday morning; sailed for Lyttelton on Wednesday evening, arriving there tho next morning at 0; left the same evening, and arrived hero as above. The schooner Esther, from Pelorns Sound, with a cargo of timber, arrived In port early yesterday morn ing. She left on Wednesday, and experienced flue weather across.

Tho stearaei Manawatu, for Wanganui, left last evening. Tho Kapler, for Blenheim, got away last night. Tho steamer Hawea arrived in harbor at 10 o’clock vestorday morning. She loft tho Waitomata at 5 p.m. bn tho 13th, and arrived at Tauranga at 9 a.m. tho next day: left again at 10.30 a.m„ arriving at Poverty Bay at 0 a.m. on tho 15th; loft thero at 3p.m., and arrived at Napier at 5.30 a,m. on the 16th : left there at 1 p.m., arriving hero as above. The Hawea left again at 3 o'clock for the South.
