There were three hundred tenders for the South Australian loan, at an average of 88J. Bank dividends are generally equal to last year’s rates. The corn market is weak, with a downward tendency. Tenders have been received for the new South Australian loan of £1,175,100, at prices ranging between 88 and 90. A proposal to take the entire loan at 88 has been refused. January 5. Messrs. Tweedy, Williams, and Co., bankers, of Truro, have suspended payment, in consequence of a run on the bank. Their liabilities are unknown. Pams, January 5. The French Senatorial elections resulted in a great Republican triumph—ls Conservatives, 64 Republicans. Cape Town, January 5.
