OUR VOLUNTEER CLOTHING.
TO THE EDITOR OF TUB NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —The Government some three or four years ago had a large quantity of Nelson tweed made for the purpose of clothing the Volunteers and encouraging local industry. At a recent meeting of the Wanganui Rifles, it was agreed that the orders for their new uniform should be sent to England to bo executed. Now, sir, is it fair that the people of Now Zealand should bo taxed to support the Volunteers, and that tills money should be expended out of the colony ? Would some member kindly bring it before the notice of the House, to ascertain if this order being sent away has received the sanction of the Government. By inserting this in your paper you will oblige.— I am, &c., * ' Local Industry. September, H, .
