Attempt at Murder.—An information was laid on Wednesday last, before the Mamsthe Upper Hutt, against Hetni Vihiriwake; an aboriginal native, for having; on the 28th day of January, 1862; shot arid wounded Riwai, his own brother. It appears that Ilemi was endeavouring to wean the affections of a native woman who' is married to a white’ man, and upon Riwai rebuking him for his. conduct, Heini fired two shots at him, one struck his thumb, passed through one thigh, and lodgedin the other. The natives succeeded in extracting the ball with a razor. Inspector Atchison apprehended Hemi on the 7tli instant, and brought him into town. He was taken before H. St. Hill, Esq,, R.M;; and remanded for further evidence.
