We are sorry to record a sad Accident which happened to Mr. Gredves; painter, of tliid town. Mr., Greaves, who had been in thd Wairarapa district for a few weeks past, where he had business to do in his line; was out early on Sunday morning, the, 19th inst., for the purpose of enjoying a walk by the lake. He met a party who had been all night fishing, with whom he went in company for some distance. On drossing a creek one of the party named Baily dropped his blankets on jumping over. On Mr. Greaves stooping to pick them up Baily’s gun accidentally went off and the contents were unfortunately lodged m Mr. Greaves right hand. Dr. Welsh was Sent for; who treated the injured limb with wet appli’ cations preparatory to Mr. Greaves’ removal on the Monday id the Hospital in Wellington. After everything being tried, it is matter of great regret that amputation was found necessary, which took place after tlie administration of chloroform on Monday last, the 27tli inst. Mr. Greaves has a young family thud deprived in a moment of their earthly support;
