Tub Esther arrived yesterday from tho Chutham Islands, which she left on the 17th inst. She brings intelligence of tho wreck of the schooner .Adelaide Packet, Wethcrall, master, on Toupekn Beach on tho 14th October; there was a light wind from the N.N.E. at the time, with a very heavy swell which set in to the Bay and drove her ashore. The cook was drowned, and Mr. 11. Winteringham nearly lost his life in trying to reach the shore. All hands wore in the rigging for several hours ; shortly after they left tho vessel, she became a total wreck. She had on board at tho time about 1(10 tons of potatoes and 6'oo bushels of wheat, nothing was saved

We allude to these matters because the Superintendent in his memorable speech at the hustings told us if he was net properly supported, “it must result in utter nun to the Province.” To our thinking the late changes have just had the opposite tendency, and under another Superintendent, whose name is now in everybody’s mouth, mid who all, except Dr. Featherston’s clique, agree will be “tho right man in the right place,” the ] rovincc will make such rapid advances as amply to justify these changes.
