New Plymouth.
HUA DISTRICT. The interesting ceremony of opening the Hua Village Church took place on Sunday afternoon last, and drew together a large concourse of visitors, many of whom found it impossible to obtain accommodation within the. building. The service was performed bv the Reverend M . Lally, assisted by Dr. Wollaston, whose appointment tn the district on the application of the residents was recently made by his Lordship the Bishop. We heartily wish Dr. Woilastoi all success and happiness in his new mission. The Church is constructed of wood, and stands on the Reserve made for Church purposes under the Land Regulations of the Province. The cost altogether does not amount to £2OO, which has been defrayed by subscription. The windows, including one of stained glass faring the east, were presented by the Rev. 11. Govett. The Church at present furnishes 70 sittings, and is capable of enlargement to meet the r< • quirements of this growing district.— Taranaki Herald.
