On Monday 11. St. Hill, Esq., declared tho result of the election for the Country District, and stated that the choice of the electors had fallen on Messrs. Brandon, J AVai.lace,Johnston, Ashton St. Hill, and M‘Manaway. to represent them in the Provincial Council. The newly elected candidates severally returned thanks to their constituents, and Mr. Brandon, in explaining that the Addiessto the Maories at Otaki, signed by himself and Mr. Schultze, was translated by Mr. Buller, jun., took occasion to defend the Rev. Mr. Buller by attacking Archdeacon Hadfield and the Editor of the Spectator. We wish Mr. Buller joy of his doughty champion. The advocate and his cause are worthy of each other.
