WELLINGTON FARMERS’ CLUB.
MEETING AT WHITEWOOD’S, THE HUTTOn Wednesday last, the Gth instant, pursuant to notice previously given, a public meeting was held at Mr. Whitewood’s Tavern, fM* Valley, in connexion with the above association. The Chair was taken by A. Ludlam, Esq., one of the Vice Presidents of the Club, who introduced the business of the Meeting by commenting on the utility of the Society and by shewing how much more likely certain results were to be brought about by combined rather than by individual effort. Dr. Curl then briefly explained the objects of the Club asset forth in its preliminary p ros ' pectus, upon which the following Resolution was moved by R. Barton, Esq., seconded by Captain Carlyon, and carried unanimously, That this meeting is of opinion that the obj 6o *’ proposed to be accomplished by the Welhngw. Farmers’ Club are laudable, and likely tq bo beneficial to the general interests of the Province. The second Resolution to the following eflW was moved by A. Renall’, Esq., seconded by Mr. J. Sellah, and was also carried unanimously,— That, this Meeting, being persuaded of the l ,c, J fits to be derived from this Association, do rose v io support the same and Io further its operations J every means in its power. It was then proposed by Mr. BucKniD 01 ’’ that the Meeting should be adjourned i ot 0
time in order to obtain a larger attendance at a future meeting. This proposition however Pein" negatived, it W resolved, on the motion of A'r. M‘ll anmr.. seconded by Mr. W. Milne, that a public meeting should be held at the Mechanics' Institute on Thursday, the 4th of J U Tlie next Resolution was then proposed by Chas. D. De Castho, Esq., seconded by Mr. tosEi’ii White, and carried unanimously,— That the thanks of this Meeting be given to A. Ludlam, Esq-, for his kindness in taking the chair on the present occasion ns well ns for his wnrm expressions of interest in the affairs of the Club. Mr. Ludlam having acknowledged the compliment, it was proposed by Mr. A. Milne, and seconded by Mr. W. Milnb, and carried unanimously, — That the thanks of the meeting are due to the Secretaries of the Club for their indefatigable exertions to promote its interests. The Secretaries having returned their thanks for the same the Meeting separated.
