ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE. To the Editor of the "New Zealand Spectator." Wellington, July 19, 1850.
Sir, — The following stanza was found at Te Aro, near the Pa. From the blotted state of the original manuscript, the author appears to have experienced considerable difficulty in wooing the Muses. Whether it is by the same eminent hand as the lamentation in Wednesday's Independent, I will not take upon me to determine : it is to be remarked, however, that the two first verses, in either stanza, end with the same rhymes. By publishing the inclosed you will submit the decision of the question to a discerning Public. I am, Sir, Your obedient Servant, X.
Lines, &c. O ! whom the Faction greatly heeds, "Whose writings every body reads, How could'st thou prove so fierce a Pagan, As thus to criticize old Fagan ?
