During the wet week which ended on July 14th the total number of passengers carried on the Miramar tramline was 8928, and the amount earned was £37 4s. For the previous week the passengers carried numbered 5685, the amount earned was £23 13© 9d. A Chinaman named Joe Chong Lee, or Martinborough, is bankrupt. His unsecured creditors represent liabilities totalling over £IOOO. The estimated deficiency is over £3OO. He attributes his bankruptcy mainly to an unprofitable partnership with a Maori. He began business two years ago with a capital or £2B. ~ , x . The Government has decided bo accept from the Masterton Trust Land© trust £IOOO in settlement of the difference in value of the site belonging to the Government which it is proposed to be conveyed in exchange for the site oi tne new Courthouse. The Government first asked £I3OO, as being the difference in value, and the concession is considered greatly advantageous to the future interests of Masterton. /
