AUCKLAND TRAMWAYS
CHARGE AGAINST MOTORMAN DISMISSED. PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, July 2G. Mr R. W. Dyer, S.M., gave liis decision this morning in the case against Motorman John Whitehouse, who was prosecuted by the City Traffic Inspector for having failed to pull up at Sliortland street stopping place on July 10th, his car at the time not having its complement of passengers. His Worship said if it was intended to take up the position that no car should stop unless some one held up a hand or did some similar act, then the widest publicity should be given to the rule. However, it w r as for the prosecution to prove that defendant had the required knowledge, not for the defendant to justify nis action. The prosecution had not succeedeu in proving defendant knew he was required to stop, and the information "ms dismissed without costs.
