A PROSPEROUS CONCERN

WELLINGTON INVESTMENT, TRUSTEE, AND AGENCY COMPANY. The annual meeting of the Wellington Investment, Trustee, and Agency Company, Ltd., was held in the company's offices, Lambton quay, on Friday. Mr J. R. Blair, chairman of directors, presided. Mr Blair briefly addressed the shareholders, remarking that this meeting marked the coming-of-age of the company, which had now been in operation for twenty-one years. He congratulated the shareholders on the sound position to which the company had attained. The adoption of the report and balance-sheet was carried unanimously. On the motion of the chairman, a dividend of 3 per cent, for the past half-year was declared, making 6 per cent, for the year. The dividend will be payable this morning. Messrs James McKerrow and J. M. Richardson, the retiring directors, were re-elected, as well as the auditors, Messrs D. T. Stuart and E. Bucholz. A vote of thanks to the directors and staff concluded the meeting. The report and balance-sheet show that the net profit on the year's business, including =£4o4. 9s 9d brought forward from the previous year, amounted to £5183 Os 9d. Of this amount <£3ooo will be absorbed in the payment of the dividend, ,£1750 will be carried to the reserve fund (making the latter £3500), and the balance, £433, will be carried forward to the current year's profit and loss account.
